A new patient two streets over types “dentist near me”. You appear sixth. You did not know that, because when you search from your own front desk you appear first. Local ranking shows what the patient sees, scores you against the practices they are comparing you with, and lists what would move the number.
What does the screen show?
The page is called Trends Near You. Four tiles: Your local rank, Your local score, Your rating, Your reviews.
Local leaderboard. Nearby practices scored out of 100. Hover a row and the score opens into its four parts: rating 35, review volume 30 (log-scaled so a practice with 900 reviews does not bury one with 200), review pace 20, web presence 15. Your row is marked.
Search visibility. Two figures. Your Google Maps position for “dentist near me”, measured by one search from your practice, top 20 only. And an estimate of how an AI assistant would describe you, scored out of 100 and labelled an estimate, never a measurement. A sample reads 58, fair: strong rating, fewer recent reviews than nearby practices.
What to do next. Levers from your gaps: ask for more recent reviews, complete the Google profile, list every service, add a booking link, add photos. A callout names the gap to close, for example the number of reviews between you and the local average. Empty states read “Not tracked yet” or “Not in top 20”; nothing is invented.
The leaderboard is the same data that drives Competitor Insights, so the practice at number one here is the one whose review pace you will see measured there.
What does it read from my practice software?
Nothing. This module reads public Google Maps data for your listing and up to 30 nearby practices, a search-rank check, a traffic estimate and an AI model’s view of your listing. It refreshes when you ask. No patient data is involved.
Is it live on my system?
LIVE, with a linked Google listing. The Maps position and the AI tile each need their data source switched on. The street-by-street rank grid, which would show your position from every neighbourhood around the practice, is ROADMAP and marked coming. Movement over time is proposed and not built.
What it does not do
It does not change your Google listing or post anything. It does not know Google’s ranking formula. It checks one point, so it is a snapshot, not a map. It reads no practice software table.
Next step
Book a demo and search “dentist near me” from your own address first, so you have a number to compare. Competitor Insights ranks the practices behind the leaderboard, Reviews covers the pace lever, and the ranking factors guide explains what moves the map pack.
